PRAY FOR zealous repentance

“Those whom I love, I reprove and discipline, so be zealous and repent. Behold, I stand at the door and knock. aIf anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and eat with him, and he with me.” — Revelation 3:19-20

Jesus desires those whom he loves to be zealous and repent. Jesus reproves and disciplines those he loves. Notice Jesus doesn't say repent so that you’ll be loved. Jesus’ discipline is a fatherly love (Heb 12:6). His reproof and instruction are always for our good and should lead us to repentance. Far too often, Christians receive the call to repentance with reluctance rather than zeal. If Jesus has died in our place for our sin, then whenever we are chastised, disciplined, or reproved by him, we are becoming aware of sin that has already been atoned for. Jesus has dealt with all our sins—past, present, and future. Therefore, we should zealously approach the throne of grace in repentance.

Prayer

O Lord, you are patient and kind, and we are often rebellious and reluctant. Draw us back to yourself with your loving kindness. Thank you for dying for all of our sins. May we be glad when we am made aware of sin so that we may zealously repent.

Amen.
