THE LOVE OF CHRIST

“Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends.” —John 15:13

“but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” —Romans 5:8

For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord. —Romans 8:38-39

There is no greater love than the love that Jesus Christ has for us. He loves us and calls us His friends, even in our weakness, to the point of dying for us on the cross so that we could be reconciled to Him. There is nothing in us, nor any force outside of us, that can break us apart from the love of God. In our prayers today, let’s remember the love of God, confessing our sins to Him who is faithful to forgive, and Whose love can never be broken.

Prayer

Lord Jesus, thank You for the immeasurable love that You give to us, for dying for our sins and enduring their just penalty on our behalf. Though our love fails constantly, Your love for us never fails, and You call us back to be renewed again and again. Forgive us, Lord. Help us to grow in love for You always, and to walk in love for all those around us. Help us to live in confident assurance of Your love and calling.
