A TEMPORARY OUTPOST

By Al Johnson

There are moments in the life of a church where you can clearly see the hand of God at work, opening doors that no man could open. This is one of those moments for us. Last week, we officially signed a six-month contract with Stable Hall downtown, and starting this Sunday, Easter 2026, we will begin holding our Sunday gatherings there at 10am.

This has only been made possible by the Lord. He has gone before us, he has made a way, and he has opened this door. We are not manufacturing momentum or forcing opportunity, but rather responding to what God has clearly set before us.

At the same time, I want to be very clear about how we should view this next season.

This is not our permanent home. This is a temporary outpost.

We are still praying, planning, and working toward a long-term solution where we can put down roots and own a space. This move is not the finish line. It is a window of opportunity. It is a season of stewardship. It is a step of obedience.

It would be easy to attach identity to a venue, to get caught up in the environment, or to measure success by what we see around us. But that is not who we are. Our identity is not in a building. It is not in a location. It is not in a venue that feels exciting or new.

Our call is simple. We are to be faithful, and we trust Jesus to take care of the fruit.

In many ways, this next season will feel like building a plane while flying it. There will be things we learn in real time. There will be adjustments we have to make along the way. We will not have everything perfectly dialed in from day one. That is part of the process.

So I am asking for your patience and your cooperation as we step into this together. We will figure things out as we go, and we will do it as a church family.

PARKING

We now have parking validation available for the Jefferson Bank Garage! You can view the map and step by step instructions below.

When you arrive, enter the garage off N Alamo Street and pull a ticket as you come in. We recommend leaving that ticket in your car. Please park on the second level or higher and avoid any reserved parking spots.

Once parked, use the E Grayson elevator, then make your way over to Stable Hall where we will be gathering for church service. It is about a five to six minute walk. When you arrive, stop by the resources table and someone will provide you with a parking validation voucher.

The Jefferson Bank Garage is located at: 1900 Broadway St, San Antonio, TX 78215.

We know this requires a little extra effort, and we said from the beginning that this move would involve some level of sacrifice. Right now, this is the best solution we can offer for free parking for our guests through the Jefferson garage with validation.

You are also welcome to park at the Pearl, but please note that we are unable to validate Pearl parking at this time.

Finally, when you exit the parking garage you must first scan the ticket you received when you entered the garage. After that, you will scan the voucher you received at the resources table.

We are doing everything we can to make this as smooth as possible, and we are grateful for your patience as we continue to figure things out. Like I said last Sunday, we are building this plane while flying it. Thank you for trusting The Lord with us as we step into this new season together.

As we step into Easter weekend and this new season as a church, I want to leave you with this:

God has opened a door. May we walk through it with humility, with faith, and with a deep dependence on Jesus. May we do not cling to comfort, nor  build our identity on temporary things.

Revelation 3:8–9 “I know your works. Behold, I have set before you an open door, which no one is able to shut… you have kept my word and have not denied my name… and they will learn that I have loved you.”
