THIS SUNDAY IS BAPTISM SUNDAY
“And now why do you wait? Rise and be baptized and wash away your sins, calling on his name.” Acts 22:16
This Sunday we will begin an 18 week study though the book of Ecclesiastes. What better way to kick off a new series than by the testimony of new life displayed through baptism!
WHAT IS BAPTISM?
Baptism is an identification with the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus and testifies to the fact that we believe in faith that Jesus died for our sins, was buried, rose three days later, and now is alive and Lord over all of creation. When Christians are baptized, they fulfill the command of Jesus (Matt. 28:19–20), are submerged in water to identify with the death of Jesus, and are raised out of the water to identify with his resurrection (Rom. 6:1–10; Col. 2:12).
WHO SHOULD BE BAPTIZED?
Those who follow Jesus. We baptize those who’ve met Jesus, know Jesus, love Jesus, and are committed to Jesus, and thus follow Jesus’ command to be baptized as a public profession of their faith in Him. If you’ve made a commitment to Jesus and have never been baptized, we encourage you to follow Jesus’ command to be baptized as a public profession of your faith in Him.
If you haven’t made a commitment to Jesus and want to learn more about Him, let us know here. We’d love to talk with you and answer any questions about Jesus you have.
