A SAVIOR IS BORN GIVING CAMPAIGN
This past Sunday we began a new sermon series along with our A Savior Is Born, Christmas giving campaign. The series and campaign is rooted in Isaiah 9 when Isaiah prophesied Jesus’ coming he depicted Jesus shining into darkness, exposing sin, and ruling with justice by heralding the news that to us a child, a savior, would be born. This savior would restore mankind to God. This is news we urgently need still to this day. We don’t need a new year or a new start, we need a savior!
While there is a lot that could be said about 2020, I think it’s safe to say that this year wasn’t what we expected, and that 2020 planner you purchased was about as necessary as hoarding toilet paper. So, as we close out this roller coaster of a year we are recounting the work of God’s hand. We’ve been amazed to see God grow the size of our church during a global pandemic, even after not being able to meet for 7 months. God is increasing our ministry opportunities, and we are eager to join him in what he is doing.
During this giving initiative our prayer is that God would give us $20,000 over and above our regular tithes and offering to help us start off 2021 with wind in our sails. We believe Jesus has positioned us, his church, to minister in a mighty way and so we trust that he will graciously provide the means to do it through his people.
God has called his children to give cheerfully and sacrificially of our finances as part of our worship as we participate in what he is doing. We would like to invite you to join us in our A Savior Is Born giving campaign! Your gift will go towards helping us increase these ministries in 2021:
THE WELL KIDS REOPENING
Starting the first week of January The Well Kids will be back open! Reaching our end-of-year goal will give us the funds we need to create the best space for our kids. We’ve already seen an increase of families with young kids and are expecting an even greater increase in the new year.
GENESIS DAILY DEVOTION & JOURNAL
For the majority of 2021 and part of 2022 we will be studying the book of Genesis. We love Jesus and preaching the Bible, and in order to expand the impacted of preaching ministry we are creating a 5 volume daily devotional journal. Included in this will be Pastor Al’s personal study notes. We will release a new volume during each segment of our study in Genesis. We believe this is going to an incredibly formative tool for you to use as we study Genesis together. Your year-end gift will help us self-publish and give these away for free to everyone who is in attendance at our in-person services.
MEN’S AND WOMEN’S MINISTRY
Starting in January we will be launching a new Men’s and Women’s ministry that will function as a community group. With our growing church we wanted to provide an opportunity for people to connect and grow. The plan is for both the Men’s & Women’s ministry to take place on the same day and to provide child care so that both parents can attend.
ONLINE MINISTRY
In a world where everything has fully switched online we have hustled and made the adjustments needed to do ministry online and in person. In order to maximize and sustain our online reach we need some technology upgrades and equipment. In addition to Sunday’s sermon, we will provide other video content to better equip you as a Christ follower along with answering the questions you and your friends have about Jesus and the Bible.
SERVE SA
We love serving alongside other ministries who are ministering to poor, hurting and marginalized in our city. Back in March when the city began to shut down, everyone scrambled and ministries were reinvented. Throughout quarantine we were still able to serve alongside a couple different organizations. Right now we are ironing out the details of a joint partnership with Northeast Baptist Church to financially bless one of those organizations this Christmas. So, stay tuned for details.
In order to expand ministry in theses ways we need your help. Reaching our goal of $20,000 will require sacrificial giving that is over and above regular giving. We are asking you to pray and seek God on how specifically he is leading you to give in this season.
