UPDATE ON THE JOHNSONS
By The Well Staff
Pastor Al, his wife Jessica, and his family welcomed their 4th child, Knox Calvin, on May 21st at 3:05am. At that time, there were no issues, and Jessica and Knox were doing fine. However, during a visit to establish care doctors admitted Knox, treating him for jaundice. During this time Knox developed a severe infection leading to immediate multiple surgeries to Knox’s chest to start to combat the infection and keep the area clean. Knox has been in the hospital now for nine days as of this writing, much of that time spent in the NICU, and still may have several weeks of treatment ahead. Due to the distancing measures initiated by Covid-19, only one parent is allowed at a time in the hospital with their child, which means that Al, the kids, and their extended family have not been able to spend hardly any time with their brand-new son, brother, nephew, and grandson.
Additionally, the Johnsons have had to suddenly leave their home in the midst of all this. A water line inside the wall of a bathroom broke and subsequently flooded their house. Within mere hours, they were required to move most of their belongings out of the house and into storage so that the so that restoration teams could come in and inspect the damage and start to replace flooring and walls. This process is not expected to be completed for a few weeks.
The Johnsons are thankful for their immediate and extended family—Al’s sister Courtney, as always, taking care of the kids so Al can be with Jessica or deal with the flooding—their church family, and all those in prayer for them.
Here is what we as a staff invite you to do in light of all that has occurred:
1) PRAY
We believe in the healing power of prayer. Thoughts and prayers are ridiculed in today’s culture, but Christians believe that God is all-powerful, all-loving, all-knowing, and is the only one capable of handling any of this, so we pray to him. We ask you to join us in praying for the Johnson family, for continued healing of Knox, peace and comfort for the whole family, and a favorable housing outcome.
2) MEAL TRAIN & MEALS FOR JESSICA
Many in our church family have been graciously serving Al and Jessica via Meal Train. They are continually grateful for this, as it takes one less stress off of their shoulders. We encourage to you to continue to participate, for more information, or to sign up, click here.
Additionally, we are working to provide meals specifically for Jessica while she spends the bulk majority of her time at the hospital with Knox. Find out more information or sign up by clicking here.
Our church staff and the Johnson family are continually grateful for our church family, the doctors and hospital staff caring for Knox, and those in our community who have helped in this time. We will continue to keep you informed on the Johnsons via our Community Group leaders, if you’re not connected to a Community Group and would like to be, please click here.
