“You search the Scriptures because you think that in them you have eternal life; and it is they that bear witness about me” — John 5:39
Jesus taught that the entire Bible was about him. The New Testament is overwhelmingly evident that it is about Jesus. The Old Testament, however, can be much harder to notice this reality, therefore we rely on how Jesus taught the Old Testament. While on the road to Emmaus in Luke 24:27, Jesus reveals to his disciples how the entire Old Testament pointed to him. Jesus is the hero of the Bible, he is the hero of our lives, and he is the hero of all human history — this we must never forget!
Take a moment today to evaluate how your life points to Jesus. Think about your words, your thoughts, and your deeds — do they reflect Jesus? Remember, it’s not about perfection but faithful surrender to Jesus our Savior.
Prayer
Father, thank You for sending Jesus to rescue and redeem us. Thank You for revealing Your truth through Scripture. Help us to see how every page of your Word points to Christ and empower us to live lives that do the same. May we glorify Jesus in all we do. We love you, we thank you, and we need you.
Amen.
